The Rwanda Chronicles

It has been a beautiful day today....the kind of day that almost makes me sorry my month of 'vacation' has drawn to a close.
Yep, I join the ranks of the daily working once again on February 1, 2011. I have accepted a position at a new media company called Media system Group as a content development and research officer...hmmm...not sure what that means. But they are mad keen to start a privately owned TV station and later a radio station as well as eventually dabble in newspapers and magazines.
I haven't been involved with television (much) in the beginning phases so I am quite excited about this venture. What can I do but learn?
So for those who have been waiting for me to get bored and seek out the bright lights of Johannesburg again...sorry not next month...probably not the month after that either...or the next...
I haven't even really gotten bored with just being here....the weather is fantastic, you get used to the bugs (eventually)., the scenery is great...people are sweet.
I get to take walks by myself....to just walk around the neighbourhood...where can you still do that in JHB or Cape Town? Without a fire breathing dragon, a tazer and baseball bat, I mean?
I am also hoping to travel a lot more in this part of Africa....Rwanda is really central and in an ideal position.
This is a country determined to move ahead.This Saturday until 14:00, no one is allowed to travel or do anything other than, believe it or not...hold onto your undies.....CLEAN UP.
That is right....on the last Saturday of the month, everyone in the country cleans up. If your property is clean, you help your neighbour or help clean up communal areas.
These folks are crazy fantastic.
No wonder this place is so bloody clean!!
